Woman, Niece Killed In Shooting With 4 Children Present, Suspect In Custody

Police are investigating the scene of a shooting that has left two people dead inside of a Tulsa home near Pine and MLK. Authorities said they are currently searching for the suspect involved.

UPDATE** Police have now confirmed that the younger victim was the niece of the adult victim and not her child.**

Tulsa Police say a man is in custody after a woman and her niece were killed inside a Tulsa home near Pine avenue and MLK Boulevard.

Officers say 37-year-old Howard Eugene Peeples has been taken in for questioning in connection to the double homicide. Police say they found a woman and her teenage niece shot to death inside a home along Tecumseh Street and say there were four other children in the house at the time, a 12-year-old called 9-1-1. Police say they're looking after the other children are safe and have been picked up.

"Obviously this is an incredibly traumatic event for an adult, let alone children," said TPD Detective Brandon Watkins.
